1 Set your goals clearly and be specific
We all want to be healthy and fit, but what does it mean for you? Does it mean exercise 3-4 times a week and continue eating junk food? What kind of workout do you want and what specifically you want to work on-these are the questions you should be asking and answering. The same method goes for finding your dream job, learning a new skill or adding a new hobby.
2 Turn habits into achievements
Once you have your list of 4 resolutions you wish to achieve, turn them into a habit. Wish to be fit? Make time 3 times a week for a workout or practice your new skill or language an hour per day. You have to be realistic with your goals and time, decide on a time frame that works with your lifestyle and schedule.
3 Have patience
We all hate the phrase ‘Have patience, everything takes time’ and the most famous one ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’. Understand that everything does take time and like everything in life you might have moments when you feel you are actually taking one step back, it’s natural and we all feel like this sometimes. Sometimes 1 step back means 3 steps forward.
4 Use a calendar and review
Each month focus on a different goal and review your progress every three months. Review your small achievements and setbacks, try to understand both to learn what you can improve, change and keep. Self-evaluation is very important and more important than any feedback other people will give you.
5 Share your achievements with your friends and family
Support from our loved ones is crucial. The people that know us best will know exactly how to get our spirits up when we are down and have a weak moment and they will also know to boost us up with energy when we when feel the progress we made isn’t to our satisfaction.
